Getting your AWS Credentials

We need AWS credentials to create resources on your behalf. This document will provide you with step-by-step instructions on how to create a new user and get its credentials to be used on ModernCloud.

First, head to the AWS console and click on user menu, then click on My Security Credentials:

On the left menu, click on Users, then click on the Add user button.

To start off, we have to enter some details for our new user. Pick a username, and then select Programmatic access for Access Type, then click on Next: Permissions.

We'll now specify the permissions for our user. Select Attach existing policies directly and start adding the following permissions which ModernCloud currently requires:

• IAMFullAccess
• AWSLambda_FullAccess
• AmazonS3FullAccess
• AmazonDynamoDBFullAccess
• CloudWatchFullAccess
• CloudFrontFullAccess
• AmazonAPIGatewayAdministrator
• AWSCertificateManagerFullAccess

If you don't want to have any problems in future with regards to permissinos, we suggest that you simply create a user with AdministratorAccess enabled. Once you're done adding permissions, click on Next: Tags and then on Next: Review.

Make sure you review everything and finally click on Create user to create your user.

We can now grab the credentials for our newly created user. Make sure you save your Access Key ID and Secret Access Key. You can safely use these credentials in ModernCloud environments.

We are always eager to hear your feedback! Reach out to us via contact@moderncloud.io and say hello!
